Oilware's BIT/PAK library is an
integrated set of access routines for manipulating tapes or
tape-like files in the Basic Information Tape (BIT) format as
specified by Dresser Atlas (Baker Atlas) in the Dresser Atlas
Tape Format Manual. BIT/PAK has been implemented in FORTRAN
as a library of FORTRAN callable subroutines to be used with
LIS/PAK. An application calls BIT/PAK subroutines to read in
and extract the desired information from a BIT tape. BIT/PAK
is available for VAX minicomputers under VMS or Ultrix; Sun,
SGI, HP, or RS6000 workstations under UNIX; IBM mainframes under
MVS and VM/CMS; Prime systems under PRIMOS; and 80x86 or Pentium
computers under MSDOS or UNIX (other platforms available
on request).
Features:
Ability of application to transparently
read from Western Atlas Tape Image Files or magnetic tape drives.
Multiple work areas to allow multiple
tapes to be processed simultaneously so that BIT tapes and LIS
tapes can be processed concurrently.
Automatic storage of the well log
heading information found in the "H1" file in an informational
database on disk for later retrieval. This file is available
on most field tapes.
Optional tape listings produced
during tape reading
Optional debugging report containing
BIT/PAK and LIS/PAK subroutine call trace.
Reports produced can be paginated
and formatted for terminal, disk file, or printer.
Sample application program supplied
with BIT/PAK for scanning tapes or Tape Image Files.
